Every other year, SER Northwest aims to host a chapter conference to give members an opportunity to learn and network. Available materials and outcomes from past chapter conferences below. When Regional Conferences are not hosted due to other national or world conferences, SERNW facilitates chapter initiatives in conjunction with those other complementary conferences.

2021 Regional Conference – Eugene, OR – cancelled

July 2020
Society for Ecological Restoration
Northwest and Western Canada Chapters

Hello Restorationists,
The world has changed since we began planning the 2021 SER Northwest and Western Canada Chapters Joint Regional Conference. We have decided that due to COVID 19 and its impacts across our world, it is not the right time for the conference we had envisioned.

We look forward to a future joint conference where we can meet, share, and learn in person, along with Huckleberry, our patiently waiting flying squirrel mascot. In the meantime, keep your eyes open for announcements about virtual opportunities to connect with each other from your chapter.

We encourage you to watch for more info about RE3, SER’s 2021 international conference which is planned to take place June 2021. It is currently envisioned as a hybrid virtual / in-person event in Quebec City.

Stay well,
Regina and Erin, on behalf of the joint conference committee

Letter from SERNW Chapter President

The joint SER/SWS Northwest Chapter Conference was held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, March 26-28, 2003 and was well attended, with a little over 500 attendees. We were fortunate to have the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists meet with us.

Topics covered ranged from fish and wildlife restoration to environmental restoration education with an emphasis on methods. We had a record number of exhibitors (42) and a record number of abstracts (173) at the conference. The closing plenary session, “Poetics of Restoration: A Panel Discussion with Other Poets and Writers on Restoration” was well attended and enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to all who helped with planning, organizing and putting on this successful event. We couldn’t done it without all your volunteer hours, ideas and enthusiasm.

If you haven’t already done so, please take time to download, fill out and return to our office, the evaluation form. We really want to get your feedback so we can continue to put together high-quality events.

Thank you,
Dr. Steven O. Link
