SER NW is offering student grants of up to $3,000 to support student research intended to improve restoration of natural systems within the greater Northwest ecoregion (WA, OR, AK, MT, ID, & Northern CA). Preference will be given to applications from student members of SER NW or a SER Student Chapter. This grant can be used for any project related expenses including, but not limited to, lab fees, travel costs, offset cost of living during project duration, or materials. Social or natural science graduate students and upper-level undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Proposals will be accepted from December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024 (11:59 PM PST). Recipients will present their research projects at the North American SER conference next fall.

Grant winners will be announced by the end of February.

Applications should include:

1. A cover page including project title, name, current mailing address, e-mail address, study system and location, college or institution, SER membership status, and dollar amount requested.

2. The research proposal, including an abstract (<250 words), introduction with research questions and objectives, methods, expected results, project significance, and literature cited. Tables and figures should be embedded in the text. Page limit of 3 to 4 single-spaced pages, excluding references. Please clearly state how your research supports restoration.

3. Project timetable.

4. Budget and justification, and research partners if any.

5. A 1-to-2-page CV.

6. Unofficial university transcripts.

 

Submission Information:

Materials should be submitted through the google forms application.The last name of the applicant should start each file name. Both Microsoft Word documents and Adobe PDF files are acceptable. If you received a SER NW Student Grant during the prior calendar year, please wait a year before reapplying.
