SERNW Board Elections

2023 Elections to the SER-NW Board of Directors will open soon!

SER-NW is seeking enthusiastic, engaged, and committed restoration experts at all career levels and from all backgrounds and expertise to join our Northwest Chapter Board. The SERNW Chapter is a thriving community of 400 practitioners and scientists working across the Cascadia Bioregion since 1993.

SER-NW Chapter Board members have a leadership role in advancing the practice, science, and policy of ecological restoration in the Pacific Northwest Region. Joining the Northwest Chapter Board is a great way to expand your role in both the Society and the field of ecological restoration, while also sharing your expertise with the restoration community. Participating in Board Committees is a great way to develop leadership and networking skills.

2023 Elections to the SER-NW Board of Directors will open in July 2023.

 

Executive Board and five Members at Large, in addition to a Student Board member and Website/Publications Board Director. All Board members serve two year terms, taking office at the summer Board meeting, and hold office until his or her successor has been elected and qualified. Terms are staggered, with the President, Executive VP, Secretary and Positions 1 and 2 being elected in odd years, and Program VP, Web and Publications, Student Board member, and At-Large Directors 3-5 being elected even years.

Article V. Section 5 of the SERNW Bylaws states that Regular elections will be held annually each spring, with Board members taking seats at the next Board meeting. New Directors and current Directors shall be elected or re-elected by a simple majority of voting members participating in the election. Voting members consist of all members paying SERNW dues. Membership in SER separately is not a requirement for voting in SERNW elections.

Article V, Section 6 states that a Nominating Committee is responsible for nominating a slate of prospective board members to represent the chapter’s diverse constituency. The slate of nominees shall be presented to the voting membership as a ballot, and distributed in the spring quarter. Chapter members may submit additional nominations for Board positions to the Nominating Committee prior to distribution of the final ballot.

Article V, Section 10 states that if the office of president is vacated, the Executive Vice President shall assume the duties of the President for the balance of the unexpired term of the President. The Board of directors shall fill all other vacancies of any unexpired term of the Board Directors through appointment of Chapter Members.
