2016 SERNW Regional Conference

The 2016 SERNW Regional Conference on ecological restoration will bring together scientists, restoration professionals, and government agencies involved in the practice and science of ecological restoration and management in the Cascadia Bioregion. The conference will be held April 4-8, 2016 at the Red Lion Hotel On the River-Jantzen Beach in Portland, Oregon and will highlight the following thematic topics:

  • Monitoring of Ecological Restoration
  • Restoring Soil Processes, Structure, and Function
  • Aquatic Restoration and Monitoring
  • Monitoring the Northwest Forest Plan
  • Climate Change Implications
  • Monitoring Techniques
  • Ecosystem Services
  • Adaptive Management.

Collaborating partners include: Northwest Forest Soils Council, Center for Natural Lands Management, Northwest Association of Environmental Professionals


VENUE

The 2016 SERNW Regional Conference will be held at the Red Lion Hotel On the River-Jantzen Beach. The Red Lion Inn is located on the waterfront of Hyden Island of the Columbia River, 10 minutes from downtown Portland and just across the I-5 bridge from Vancouver, WA.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION Deadline Extended to Jan 22

We encourage oral or poster presentations speaking to the theme, “Monitoring Ecological Restoration.” The following topics are of particular interest:

  • Monitoring and Adaptive Management
  • Monitoring Methods and Data Management
  • Urban Restoration
  • Prairie Restoration
  • Wetland and Riparian Restoration

We are also soliciting presentations on restoration of aquatic and upland ecosystems; watershed and stream restoration; native plant materials; social, cultural and economic implications of restoration; weather, climate and climate change impacts; as well as other aspects of ecological restoration in the Pacific Northwest Region.

Please log in to our online Abstract Submission Page and use the form to submit your abstract for presentation before January 22, 2016 indicating whether your preference is for a poster or oral presentation.

Oral presentations will either be assigned to a topical symposium or organized subject session, or re-assigned to a poster format depending on scheduling and/or space limitations. Presenters will be notified of the status of their submission by January 29, 2016.

Abstracts should be  300  words or less with the following format:

  • Title
  • Co-authors and affiliations
  • Principal contact address, phone number and email

EARLY REGISTRATION Deadline Extended to Jan 31

Early Registration for the SERNW Conference Monitoring Ecological Restoration is now open. Please check our Registration Page. We encourage you to register for the conference early, as rates will increase in 2016. Registration fees for the conference include full access to all scientific sessions, conference materials, lunch and coffee breaks on all days of the scientific program, plenary sessions, and poster reception. Additional registration fees are required for workshops, post-conference field trips, and the evening banquet. Current SER members, students, and members of our collaborating organizations are eligible for a discounted registration rate. In order to attend a number of optional activities to be held in conjunction with the conference, you must be registered for at least one day of the conference.  Under the Register Tab you will also find a link to accommodations at our conference venue, the Red Lion Inn at Janzen Beach, Portland at special conference rates. We look forward to meeting you at the conference.
