The Large Scale Ecosystem Restoration Section (LERS) of SER continues their ongoing webinar series by exploring a novel framework for monitoring ecosystem restoration at landscape and seascape scale, developed by the Endangered Landscapes and Seascapes Programme. We will describe our approach to monitoring ecological and socioeconomic change holistically over large spatial and temporal scales and share learnings based on experiences working with restoration projects across Europe. We will also hear on-the-ground insights from the Solent Seascape Project, one of the marine restoration initiatives supported by the Programme.

This session:

  • Examines the use of this tool, including recommendations on indicator selection
  • Reviews practical examples of the framework application;
  • Explores experiences and lessons learned from working with over 20 landscape and seascape restoration projects across Europe; and
  • Discusses possible ways forward.

This webinar is ideal for restoration practitioners, ecologists, planners, researchers, students, and policymakers.

Presenters:

  • Nancy Ockendon, Science Manager at Endangered Landscapes and Seascapes Programme,
  • Professor Joanne Preston, Marine Biologist at the Institute of Marine Sciences, University of Portsmouth.
