Parks Canada BioBlitz – Saturna Island
17 July 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 18 July 2015 @ 4:00 pm MDT
Parks Canada needs your help to identify as many species as possible over 24 hours! Discover diverse habitats on beautiful Saturna Island. Half the island rests in the national park reserve: beaches, marshes, mudflats, ponds, forests, fields and Garry oak bluffs. There’s even a salmon stream. Help support Parks Canada’s conservation efforts. Registered participants can camp for free at Parks Canada sites (space limited). Spend a weekend outdoors with like-minded people. Have some fun!
The BioBlitz will include species surveys (registration required, space limited, most suited to families
with children over 10) and fun drop-in activities (no registration required, suitable for all ages, schedules available soon).
Species observations will be recorded with smart phones and digital cameras. Download the app from: www.inaturalist.org
Everyone is welcome, from professional scientists, student specialists and naturalists to families and individuals with no expertise but lots of enthusiasm.
