Canada’s Parks Day – West Creek, BC Wetland Clean-up
July 18, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Come join the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Ecological Restoration Team for a Parks Day clean up of West Creek Wetland. They’ll be enhancing an ecologically sensitive habitat by removing invasive plants and old irrigation piping from the site. After the clean-up (~1.5 hours), enjoy a guided hike to Wood Duck Lake (~1.5 hours). This will be a unique opportunity to visit a park reserve normally closed off to the public – while helping to improve your local park.
They will be joined by staff and volunteers from Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) and Glen Valley Watersheds Society (GVWS). Meet like-minded people who are passionate about helping the environment, and learn about the unique ecology and history of West Creek Wetland.
Metro Vancouver will provide work gloves, tools and refreshments. The work party will run rain or shine, so come prepared for the weather and activity (i.e. hat, sunscreen, insect repellant). Sturdy shoes are highly recommended.
