Every year NCC Saskatchewan invites valued volunteers to one of its most prized property, Old Man on His Back Prairie and Heritage Conservation Area (OMB). In exchange for some hard work, NCC offers a beautiful camping spot with good food and great company. This year, we are also hosting a Dark Sky Party to celebrate the designation of OMB as a Nocturnal Preserve. This provides an opportunity for volunteers to enjoy the night sky and learn about the importance of darkness for wildlife and people.

Some of the conservation work that needs to be done is to maintain hawk nests, count bison, tend to the native prairie garden, put fence caps on some of the posts as well as some general clean up and maintenance. Click here to read about last year’s Conservation Volunteers event at Old Man on His Back Prairie and Heritage Conservation Area.
