Prescribed fire and forest dynamics in the Brown County Hills: A Fire Management Field Tour.

October 8, 2014, 9 AM to 2 PM ET.

A field tour will show the results and explain the use of prescribed fire to perpetuate oak-hickory forests at The Nature Conservancy’s Hitz-Rhodehamel Woods preserve. Todd Hutchinson, Research Ecologist (USFS Northern Research Station), will discuss using prescribed fire to alter stand structure and composition. Dr. John Shuey (The Nature Conservancy) will talk about increasing ecological resilience as adaptation for future climate change regimes.

Meet at the TNC’s Brown County Hills Project Office (4523 TC Steele Road) (MAP) at 9 AM. Bring your lunch! Parking is very limited, so we will drive vans from the TNC office.
