SER-EC’s mission aims to facilitate the sharing of current ecological restoration-related information and networking, with a focus on various types of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems throughout unique regions of Eastern Canada such as the St. Lawrence River, the Bay of Fundy, the Boreal Forest, etc. Various activities are planned from 2022 to 2024, such as the presentation of a national conference, annual symposiums, workshops/specialized training courses, and online webinars on restoration approaches and techniques. Topics will touch on various ecosystem types (small watercourses to major freshwater ecosystems, large tidal brackish and saltwater marshes, peatlands, forests, etc.) and addressing different industries-related challenges and restoration opportunities (forestry, mining, agriculture, etc.) in Eastern Canada. Another important tool developed by SEREC is the Multi-Resource Centre in Ecological Restoration, a website that host scientific and technical information related to the ecological restoration (latest publications of interest, online web resources, past conferences and webinars, showcases [field-site demonstration] and the contact person or organization.
La mission de SER-EC vise à faciliter le partage d’informations en lien avec la restauration écologique et le réseautage, en mettant l’accent sur divers types d’écosystèmes aquatiques et terrestres dans des régions uniques de l’Est du Canada telles que le fleuve Saint-Laurent, la baie de Fundy, la Forêt boréale, etc. Diverses activités sont prévues de 2022 à 2024, telles que la présentation d’une conférence nationale, des colloques annuels, des ateliers/formations spécialisées et des webinaires en ligne sur les approches et techniques de restauration. Les sujets aborderont divers types d’écosystèmes (des petits cours d’eau aux grands écosystèmes d’eau douce, les grands marais tidaux saumâtres et salés, les tourbières, les forêts, etc.) et aborderont les différents défis liés aux industries et les opportunités de restauration (foresterie, exploitation minière, agriculture, etc.) dans l’Est du Canada. Un autre outil important développé par la SEREC est le Centre Multi-Ressources en Restauration Ecologique, un site web qui hébergera des informations scientifiques et techniques liées à la restauration écologique (dernières publications d’intérêt, ressources web en ligne, conférences et webinaires passés, vitrines [terrain-site démonstration] et la personne ou l’organisation de contact.
