The Society for Ecological Restoration – Eastern Canada (SER-EC hereafter) is present in Quebec, the Maritimes (NS, NB, PEI) and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This new bilingual chapter of the international parent organization the “Society for Ecological Restoration” aims to encourage the development of ecological restoration (i.e., the process of assisting the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged, or destroyed) by bringing together the expertise of ecological restoration professionals of Eastern Canada, from government, non-government, private and university organizations, in order to advance the science, practice, and policy of ecological restoration to sustain biodiversity, improve resilience in a changing climate, and re-establish an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and culture.
La Société pour la restauration écologique – Est du Canada (ci-après SER-EC) est présente au Québec, dans les Maritimes (NS, NB, PEI) et dans la province de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador. Ce nouveau chapitre bilingue de l’organisation mère internationale la “Society for Ecological Restoration” vise à encourager le développement de la restauration écologique (c’est-à-dire le processus d’aide au rétablissement d’un écosystème qui a été dégradé, endommagé ou détruit) en réunissant les l’expertise des professionnels de la restauration écologique de l’Est du Canada, provenant d’organisations gouvernementales, non gouvernementales, privées et universitaires, dans le but de faire progresser la science, la pratique et la politique de restauration écologique afin de maintenir la biodiversité, d’améliorer la résilience face aux changements climatiques et de rétablir une relation écologiquement saine entre la nature et la culture.
