What the Heck is Soil Fertility

March 27, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

Speaker:

Dr. Ieuan Rhys Evans

Dr. Evans is a forensic plant pathologist with a background in chemistry, soil science, plant diseases and micronutrient requirements of plants.  He completed his BSc at the University of Wales and his PhD at the University of Florida in 1969. His career ranged from a professor at the University of Guelph to Provincial Plant Pathologist for Alberta Agriculture.

Description:

Presently, Dr Evans is very disappointed that only 10 – 15% of farmers in this province and across the prairies test their soil for crop nutrients.

What is it that they do not understand or misunderstand about soil fertility?

Successful economic crop production is based on solid science and sound facts. Remember the best indicator of soil health is a good crop that meets a farmer’s expectations, which seems to elude most farmers and in particular the general public.

Dr Evans will communicate the foundations of soil fertility in line with his seminar!

The event will be held in Edmonton at the Faculty Club at the University of Alberta and broadcast across Alberta via weblink. The webinar will be delivered as a live video stream.
