Trees for Bees – Planting Day

June 5, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

On World Environment Day join NCC as we grab our shovels and set to work planting native shrubs, trees and wildlfowers to rewild a portion of the Fleming property and increase habitat for pollinators. No car? No problem! Bus transportation will be provided (pre-registration required).

Our staff will meet you at NCC’sEdmonton office, where we’ll load up the bus and head out to the property for a day of hands-on conservation. During the short drive out, staff will provide you with an overview of NCC’s work in the Capital Conservation Area and give you a sneak peak on one of our upcoming projects!

Once we arrive on site, we’ll split into teams and give you an orientation on proper planting techniques before getting to work. Together we’ll plant native spruces trees, shrubs (such as pincherry and rose) and wildflower seed bombs in targeted sites of the property. Throughout the day you’ll get to hear from our project partners, theAgroforestry and Woodlot Extension Society and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton, learn more about pollinators, and get the lowdown on our future plans for this special site!
