Tidying Up Jiggens Bluff

Join NCC in some spring cleaning at the Jiggens Bluff property located along the Plum Lakes, just SE of Oak Lake Proper. Help staff in cleaning up debris and removing old fencing which poses a threat to wildlife, then join NCC staff for an afternoon of bird-watching on the Plum Lakes, part of the Oak Lakes/Plum Lake Important Bird Area.

Located in the Oak Lake Sandhills and Wetlands Natural Area, this property features a variety of habitats, from the lakeshore, to forest to Sandhill Prairies. The Oak Lake/Plum Lakes area is a designated important bird area and hosts a large diversity of species.

A light lunch and beverages will be provided, and the event will take place rain or shine. Be sure to bring raingear and boots just in case! Gloves, bug spray and sunscreen will be provided. Sturdy closed-toe footwear, hats, long pants and long-sleeved shirts that can get dirty are recommended. Note: poison ivy may be present, if you aren’t familiar with its appearance be sure to ask a staff person to point it out to you.
