Stark Coulee Bio Blitz

July 10, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Come on out for a day of fun in the sun and help the Nature Conservancy of Canada inventory the flora and fauna at one of our newest protected areas, Stark Coulee! The Stark Coulee Property consists of 1288 acres (521 ha) of predominate native prairie. The property is located along the Qu’Appelle River Valley with the majority of the property being relatively flat grasslands and the remainder of the land being severely sloped into the valley.

You will search and explore prairie biodiversity and contribute to the long term management of the property with your information. NCC is looking for keen beginners or moderate to good skilled botanists and birders to help cover a portion of the habitat. You will need to be in good physical condition and be willing to work through the heat of the day.

You may be hiking considerable distance so be sure to wear good hiking books and a hat. Also grab your binoculars and any bird or native plant books you wish. GPS units would also be helpful and appreciated. Eat a hearty breakfast and pack a lunch, NCC will provide snacks and drinking water.
