Soil Bio-engineering for Land Restoration and Slope Stabilization

May 28, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Alberta Government Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program invites you to the first in a seminar series on Building Watershed Resilience Naturally. The primary objective of this program is to increase the natural ability of Alberta’s watersheds to reduce the intensity, magnitude, duration and effects of flooding and drought through natural system mitigation measures, including riparian area restoration. This educational series will give us tools to achieve this together. David F. Polster, Plant Ecologist, will deliver a lecture on: Soil Bio-engineering for Land Restoration and Slope Stabilization.

Who should attend? This seminar is open to anyone engaged in river bank restoration or management and other related disciplines, looking for natural solutions to achieve numerous benefits.

Why Soil Bioengineering? The Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program is hosting this seminar on soil bioengineering to promote use of the technique in our watersheds. Riparian areas enhance watershed resiliency for times of flood and drought as well as for water quality protection through erosion control, and for fish and wildlife protection by improving habitats.
