Join us for a free two day workshop where you will learn how to rapidly assess rangeland wetlands using the techniques developed by Dr. Paul Hansen. Dr. Paul Hansen is one of the founding specialists who developed a methodology to assess the proper functioning condition of lentic and lotic wetlands (i.e., isolated and stream-connected wetlands). Derivations of these protocols are used throughout the US by the Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, in Alberta by the very successful Cows and Fish Program (cowsandfish.org) and in some pilot projects in the interior of BC. Training will be provided by Dr. Hansen. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in a discourse on how a similar methodology could be applied to managing wetlands on rangeland in BC. Both classroom and field training will be provided during the workshop.

Please note that an application is required for this workshop as spaces are limited. Target audience include Forest and Range managers, First Nation environmental technicians, ranchers, landowners, and consultants. Other applicants will be considered on case by case basis. The BCWF will inform you of acceptance after your application has been reviewed.
