Creating Resilient Water Systems

Are you interested in exploring challenges and solutions for more resilient water systems? We’ll be discussing the impacts of extreme weather like flood and drought, and look at some case studies of proactive planning approaches. Join us for an interactive 1-day workshop for graduate students and young professionals in Vancouver, BC.

Who Can Apply?

  • This workshop is for graduate students and young professionals from any discipline in water management, who live in Vancouver and the surrounding region.
  • Interested individuals outside the region may apply, but preference will be given to local applicants. All participants are required to pay their own travel costs.
  • Please do not apply if you cannot participate in the entire workshop. If you leave the workshop at any time for any reason (except medical), you will not be re-admitted or refunded.
  • Space is limited.  Participants will be selected on the strength of their applications.
  • Preference is given to applicants who have attended fewer than two workshops hosted by Canadian Water Network.

Application Process

  • Please submit your online application no later than Friday, January 29. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. You may find it easier to complete the questions in a Word document, then copy and paste the text into the form.
  • CWN will review all applications and notify applicants by email on Friday, February 5.
  • Participants who are accepted for the workshop will be required to pay an $85 registration fee and submit a short biography and photo (suitable for publication).
  • A group project will be assigned to the accepted participants prior to the start to the workshop. Each group will be required to make a presentation during the workshop.

Registration Fee

  • There will be a registration fee of $85, payable upon acceptance into the workshop. Payment options include VISA, MasterCard or a cheque payable to Canadian Water Network c/o University of Waterloo.
  • Cancellation policy: Canadian Water Network does reimburse registration fees one week prior to the workshop.

Workshop Details

  • Please arrive at UBC SAGE Bistro by 7:45 am for registration and breakfast. The workshop will conclude by 5:00 pm.
  • Meals will be provided during the workshop. If you have allergies or special requirements, please note this on the application.
  • All participants are responsible for their own accommodations and travel. These costs will not be reimbursed by Canadian Water Network.
