Description
Soil bioengineering is an applied science that uses live plant materials, rock, soils and landscape elements to perform an engineering function such as slope stabilization, soil erosion control or seepage control.  This restoration workshop will focus on techniques that use live cuttings from shrubs and other structural materials to stabilize eroding streambanks and cover bare ground.

Instructor
David F. Polster, MSC, RPBio, is a plant ecologist with more than 35 years of experience in vegetation studies, reclamation and invasive species management.  He has developed a wide variety of reclamation techniques for mines, industrial developments and steep/unstable slopes and for
re-establishment of riparian and aquatic habitats.
The course will focus on use of natural processes and systems to restore drastically disturbed sites, including streambanks and riparian areas.
