Dreissenid Mussel Research Priorities: Understanding Biology and Environmental Tolerances for Effective Management

May 26, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Date and Time: May 26, 2016  12:00 pm Mountain / 11:00 am Pacific
Presenters: Steve Waste, USGS Western Fisheries Research Center; Mark Sytsma, Portland State University; and Lisa DeBruyckere, Creative Resource Strategies, LCC

Under the Shared Landscapes Outcomes initiative of the Great Northern Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GNLCC), a pilot project was implemented to address aquatic integrity and stressors in the Columbia River Basin. Members of the GNLCC Columbia Basin Partner Forum (CBPF) organized and convened this workshop in response to shared concerns from the CBPF about aquatic invasive species in the Columbia Basin, and a direct request from Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) for a prospectus on priority research needs for Quagga/Zebra mussels.

This webinar reports the results of the workshop, supported by the GNLCC, and held at Portland State University November 4-5, 2015. A total of 28 North American experts in mussel, biology, ecology, and management convened to achieve consensus on the highest priority research priorities for dreissenid prevention, detection, monitoring, management, and control.
