In 2013, the province released a new Alberta Wetland Policy to conserve, restore, protect and manage Alberta’s wetlands to sustain the benefits they provide to the environment, society and the economy. Municipalities are important partners in implementing this policy given their role in land use planning and water management.

During the webinar, Thorsten Hebben, Section Head of Surface Water Policy for Environment and Parks will provide an update on implementation of the policy and how municipalities can support its implementation. Michael Barr,  Alberta NAWMP Coordinator will introduce a new  project to advance wetland stewardship in Alberta through municipal engagement.
