Trevien Stanger is a father and husband, tree-planter, environmental educator, and writer based in the Champlain Basin of northwest Vermont. As an instructor of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Saint Michael’s College, Trevien teaches about ecological restoration in myriad ways, with particular emphasis on the cultural and ethical implications of cultivating restorative relationships between faculty, students, and place. As a steward of the campus’ 365 acre natural area– a diverse landscape complete with wetland and floodplain forests–Trevien leads community planting projects for students of all ages, and works with local partners to introduce more people to the joys, challenges, and hopeful possibilities within the field of ecological restoration.
