The SER-Natural Regeneration Network is a sub-group of SER that enables SER members to link with ideas and information about harnessing natural regeneration in restoration.

Natural regeneration – whether ‘spontaneous’ or only occurring after active facilitation –  is an often underestimated approach (or set of approaches) to restoration.  Depending on the degree of degradation, natural regeneration can provide an important means of recovery of a degraded native ecosystem.

Where natural regeneration is possible it can often provide important advantages including lower cost and higher levels of success compared to the reintroduction of seed or seedlings.

Further information is available through this website’s tabs. Membership is open to any SER member.

The SER-NRN network helps SER members gain knowledge on harnessing natural regeneration in ecological restoration and spreads the word to all those interested in the range of approaches available. SER-NRN will also share case studies and resources to inform people about using natural regeneration. Consider joining SER-NRN by joining SER and selecting NRN as one of the Chapters & Sections from the menu provided: https://www.ser.org/page/Membership
