SERO is participating in the conference organization through the following committees:
Field Trip and Tour Committee
Ontario Representation:
- TBD – Nigel Finney – SERO / Conservation Halton
The duties of the Field Trip and Tour Committee of an event are:
- to work in conjunction with the LOC/PCO to ensure that clear and correct instructions are included in the Circulars and Call for Papers for persons who want to participate to field trips, excursions, and tours;
- to make all arrangements for field trips, excursions, and tours (name of the participants, itineraries, reservations, bus, hotels, meals, snacks, drinks, guides etc.);
- to provide a field guide with maps of the route and short summary & other written material of all sites that will be visited;
- to manage all aspects of the field trips, excursions, and tours;
- to provide budgets and final financial reports for the field trips after the event.
Partnership and Exhibition Committee
Ontario Representation:
- TBD – Nigel Finney – SERO / Conservation Halton
The duties of this Committee of an event are:
- to make arrangements for commercial exhibitions
- to check if there are any regulations that pertain to this activity, e.g. commercial sales;
- to solicit vendors, e.g. peat producers, and other companies, book dealers, publishers, non-profit or professional organisations;
- to rent exhibition spaces
- to rent or provide stand building material, decorations, staff, guards etc. if agreed on
- to make custom regulations of the host country known
- to provide information on how material can be shipped to and from the venue
- to provide storage space, if needed
Scientific Committee
Ontario Representation:

- Kate Hayes – Credit Valley Conservation
- Nigel Finney – SERO / Conservation Halton
The duties of the Scientific Committee(s) are:
- to provide information for the Circulars and Call for Papers
- to define deadlines for submission of abstracts;
- to approve and schedule special sessions (symposia, workshops, plenary lectures, invited papers, etc.);
- to receive abstract submissions and send the acknowledgement letters;
- to receive the student award applications and forward them to the Student Award Committee;
- to accept or reject submissions for places on the Scientific Program;
- to determine the schedule and arrangement for the scientific sessions;
- to select session chairs;
- to coordinate activities during the event to ensure that the scientific program is carried out in a timely and efficient manner;
- to approve scientific invited speakers;
- to submit program material to the PCO on schedule;
- to arrange and coordinate the conduct of the Scientific Program (session chairs, projectionists, etc.).
