For this special event, Dr. Daniel Schindler, from the University of Washington School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences will be telling us all about the importance of complexity for sustaining the ecological functions of Alaskan salmon rivers. This presentation is not to be missed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daniel Schindler is the Harriet Bullitt Endowed Chair of Conservation in the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington.\u00a0 His research focuses on understanding the functioning of watersheds that support Pacific salmon in western Alaska, and the dynamics of fisheries that operate in these ecosystems. He is a principal investigator of the UW-Alaska Salmon Program that has studied salmon ecosystems in Alaska.\u00a0 He spends several months of the year doing fieldwork in the Bristol Bay region.\u00a0 Daniel has received numerous awards for his scientific research studies.\u00a0 He has provided service to a wide variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations, and serves on the editorial board of the journals Ecology, Ecosystems, Climate Change Responses, and Facets.<\/p>\n
