Awards for Excellence in Ecological Restoration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each year, we present awards to individuals or organizations in Texas who have made exceptional contributions to Excellence in Ecological Restoration Research<\/strong> and Excellence in Land Management.<\/strong> Nominations are solicited from all TXSER members, and winners are announced by early October. Recipients are honored at the annual conference each year in November. Nominees should have made contributions to restoration in Texas that are: long-lasting, have changed how we do restoration, and\/or have impacted large areas. Nominees can be people (practitioners and\/or researchers), teams, or organizations. Separate awards are given for excellence in land management (practitioner or land management-focused organization\/team) and excellence in research (researcher or research-focused organization\/team). Check the conference website<\/strong><\/a> for updates about the process and deadlines for nominations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Awards for Best Student Presentation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Each year, we award students presenting oral or poster presentations at the annual conference that are exceptional in the following categories: Best Undergraduate Student Poster Presentation<\/span>, Best Graduate Poster Presentation<\/span>, Best Undergraduate Student Oral Presentation<\/span>, and Best Graduate Student Oral Presentation<\/span>.  Winners are awarded cash prizes and are honored at our annual banquet. To be considered, indicate on your abstract submission that you are a student interested in entering the competition.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Plant ID Contest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A plant identification contest is held during the annual conference with awards for the top individual student, top individual professional, and top student team. Competitors are presented with plants representing native and invasive species important to ecological restoration across Texas. The challenging competition includes live plants, herbarium specimens, cuttings, seeds, and other samples from across Texas’ varied ecoregions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
