TXSER’s mission is to unite scientists, practitioners, and policymakers to restore ecosystems and the vital services they provide.
Our vision is to foster communication and collaborative restoration among scientists, practitioners, and policymakers to build thriving ecosystems that sustain biodiversity and services for generations to come.
Our Board of Directors meets every 5-10 years to review our progress and set direction by defining and revising our goals, identifying responsible parties for meeting the goals and setting a timeline with specific outcomes to track our progress. In 2024, we met for a weekend board retreat in West Texas to draft a new 5-year plan. We came up with the following list of fundamental and strategic goals, which we work toward during regular subcommittee meetings and discuss during monthly full-board meetings:

Over the next 5 years from 2025-2030, we aim to continuing hosting and improving upon our annual conference (e.g., by providing additional ways for our members to interact and share ideas via round-table discussions and workshops), hosting more regular regional events (such as work days and restoration discussions), increasing membership in parts of the state that are underserved, and increasing our support for restoration practitioners and students (e.g. via a small grants program and scholarships for conferences and workshops). If you have ideas for improving our organization and time to help make those ideas come to life, consider joining our Board of Directors! We are all-volunteer run and have many ways that you can plug in depending on your time and energy, ranging from serving as at-large member helping with committee work to serving as a committee chair or regional representative.
