{"id":4,"date":"2012-08-23T20:59:19","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T20:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/serchapter2018.wpengine.com\/southeast\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2019-09-17T21:34:51","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T21:34:51","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chapter.ser.org\/southeast\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About<\/h2>\n<hr align=\"center\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p><strong>Our membership is restoring the southeastern region of North America &#8212; Coastal Plain, Piedmont and Southern Appalachians.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Society for Ecological Restoration Southeast Chapter (formerly known as the\u00a0Coastal Plain Chapter)\u00a0was established in 1995 as\u00a0a non-profit organization of professionals\u00a0from a variety of disciplines including practitioners, scientists, land managers, landscape architects, foresters, engineers, community activists, and\u00a0students that study, plan, and implement ecological restoration projects throughout the Southeastern United States.<\/p>\n<p>SER Southeast serves\u00a0members in Alabama,\u00a0Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.<\/p>\n<h2>Mission<\/h2>\n<hr align=\"center\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p>The mission of SER Southeast is to promote ecological restoration as a means of sustaining the diversity of life on Earth and reestablishing an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and culture.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">In order to accomplish our mission, we will:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage practice and research in all areas related to ecosystem restoration.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate the science of ecological restoration via meetings and publications to the members of the Chapter, to public and private institutions, and to the general public.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and promote technical and ethical guidelines for ecosystem restoration.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct programs of public education and understanding of the values and limitations of ecosystem restoration.<\/li>\n<li>Articulate and advance the Chapter\u2019s positions on public policy regarding ecosystem restoration.<\/li>\n<li>Advise public agencies regarding the improvement of ecosystem restoration standards and criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage the fellowship of restorationists based on shared knowledge, dedication, friendship, and mutual professionalism within the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Contact Us<\/h2>\n<hr align=\"center\" width=\"100%\" \/>\n<p>If you have questions about the chapter, please email Chapter President, Jennifer Franklin at jafranklin@utk.edu<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About Our membership is restoring the southeastern region of North America &#8212; Coastal Plain, Piedmont and Southern Appalachians.
