24, 2021.<\/h2>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ser.org\/page\/SER2021virtual\">SER2021<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SERO is participating in the conference organization through the following committees:<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc150241354\"><\/a>Field Trip and Tour Committee<\/h2>\n<p>Ontario Representation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TBD &#8211; Nigel Finney &#8211; SERO \/ Conservation Halton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The duties of the Field Trip and Tour Committee of an event are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to work in conjunction with the LOC\/PCO to ensure that clear and correct instructions are included in the <em>Circulars and Call for Papers<\/em> for persons who want to participate to field trips, excursions, and tours;<\/li>\n<li>to make all arrangements for field trips, excursions, and tours (name of the participants, itineraries, reservations, bus, hotels, meals, snacks, drinks, guides etc.);<\/li>\n<li>to provide a field guide with maps of the route and short summary &amp; other written material of all sites that will be visited;<\/li>\n<li>to manage all aspects of the field trips, excursions, and tours;<\/li>\n<li>to provide budgets and final financial reports for the field trips after the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc150241357\"><\/a>Partnership and Exhibition Committee<\/h2>\n<p>Ontario Representation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TBD &#8211; Nigel Finney &#8211; SERO \/ Conservation Halton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The duties of this Committee of an event are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to make arrangements for commercial exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>to check if there are any regulations that pertain to this activity, e.g. commercial sales;<\/li>\n<li>to solicit vendors, e.g. peat producers, and other companies, book dealers, publishers, non-profit or professional organisations;<\/li>\n<li>to rent exhibition spaces<\/li>\n<li>to rent or provide stand building material, decorations, staff, guards etc. if agreed on<\/li>\n<li>to make custom regulations of the host country known<\/li>\n<li>to provide information on how material can be shipped to and from the venue<\/li>\n<li>to provide storage space, if needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Scientific Committee<\/h2>\n<p>Ontario Representation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Maria Strack &#8211; University of Waterloo<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Steve Murphy &#8211; University of Waterloo<\/li>\n<li>Kate Hayes &#8211; Credit Valley Conservation<\/li>\n<li>Nigel Finney &#8211; SERO \/ Conservation Halton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The duties of the Scientific Committee(s) are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to provide information for the <em>Circulars and Call for Papers<\/em><\/li>\n<li>to define deadlines for submission of abstracts;<\/li>\n<li>to approve and schedule special sessions (symposia, workshops, plenary lectures, invited papers, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>to receive abstract submissions and send the acknowledgement letters;<\/li>\n<li>to receive the student award applications and forward them to the Student Award Committee;<\/li>\n<li>to accept or reject submissions for places on the <em>Scientific Program<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>to determine the schedule and arrangement for the scientific sessions;<\/li>\n<li>to select session chairs;<\/li>\n<li>to coordinate activities during the event to ensure that the scientific program is carried out in a timely and efficient manner;<\/li>\n<li>to approve scientific invited speakers;<\/li>\n<li>to submit program material to the PCO on schedule;<\/li>\n<li>to arrange and coordinate the conduct of the <em>Scientific Program<\/em> (session chairs, projectionists, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SER2021, the 9th World Conference on Ecological Restoration, will take place on virtually from June 19 &#8211;
