Learn about four decades of landscape activities and treatments undertaken by the City of Greater Sudbury’s Regreening Program, which is overseen by VETAC, an advisory Panel to the Program. Hear about the \u2018original \u2018and \u2018modified\u2019 Sudbury Recipe.\u00a0 Discuss why we move forest carpets into Sudbury and other exhilarating stories from the forty years of transforming the Sudbury Landscape.\u00a0 \u00a0Why every spring, do schools across Greater Sudbury compete to win the title of the ugliest schoolyard<\/em>?\u00a0 Discover there is still much to do in Sudbury’s Regreening program.<\/p>\n

The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee will celebrate its 20th year of grassroot operations in 2019 with a mission to restore all life to the Junction Creek ecosystem: native wildlife, fish, insect and plant life, and to improve the quality of life for humans as well. Through restoration efforts, education and research, we will gain an update on activities to improve this urban waterway.<\/p>\n

Format<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The day will start with a general introduction to the Sudbury scene and a few short graduate student presentations on local restoration\/conservation topics. Rest of the day will be spent at various stops around Sudbury to view ongoing restoration. Please bring field clothes, lunch, water.<\/p>\n

Meeting location<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

9 am at Vale Living with Lakes Centre, Laurentian University, Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury, ON P3E 2C6.\u00a0 There will be opportunity to car pool from the Centre to the restoration sites.<\/p>\n

Event Cost<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a SERO sponsored event.\u00a0 Cost for members is $10 and $15 for non-members.\u00a0 The money raised is used for a number of SERO initiatives including funding the Yearly Scholarship Fund<\/p>\n
