Our primary meeting goal is to highlight the linkages between restoration of Midwestern habitat mosaics and ecosystem resiliency and the importance of facilitating connections ecologically and socially.&nbsp;&nbsp; Our meeting agenda includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A keynote presentation by John Shuey of The Nature Conservancy: <\/strong><em>Restoring Resilience to Conservation Landscapes in the Face of Climate Disruption.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A meeting host plenary session and field tour on the Gabis Arboretum and Tallgrass Prairie Restoration:&nbsp; <\/strong>Dr. Young Choi will give a plenary presentation on the tallgrass prairie restoration efforts at Gabis Arboretum and then lead a field tour of the arboretum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Two workshops: <\/strong><strong><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Workshop 1 &#8211; <\/strong><em>Characteristics of a Well-planned Ecological Restoration Project: With Emphasis on the Construction and Implementation Phases.<\/em><strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Workshop 2 &#8211; <\/strong><em>Pathways into the Profession and Practice of Ecological Restoration.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Four symposia: <\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Symposium 1<\/strong> <em>\u2013 Ecological Restoration to Connect Habitats in the Chicago Crescent:&nbsp; Establishing Habitat Mosaics at the Southern Tip of Lake Michigan<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Symposium 2 &#8211; <\/strong><em>Role of Soil Mutualists in Midwestern Restorations<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Symposium 3 &#8211;<\/strong><em>Finding the Middle Ground: Exploring Lawn Alternatives in Public Spaces as a Conservation Tool From Practice and Research Perspectives<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Symposium 4 &#8211;<\/strong><em>Creating a Regional Native Seed Network for the Midwest &#8211; Who are the Players and What Are the Needs?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Contributed oral presentation sessions<\/strong>:&nbsp; We currently have 42 presenters from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, Virginia, and the District of Columbia who will share their experiences involving forest, prairie, lake, wetland, river, and urban restoration.&nbsp; Presentation topics include community approaches to urban restoration, hydrology and water quality of a restored dune-and-swale wetland, prescribed fire timing effects on the phenology in tallgrass prairies plants, and assessment of federal wetland restoration efforts, and many more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dedicated contributed poster session<\/strong>: &nbsp;We currently have 20 presenters from Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Virginia who will share their experiences involving prairie, forest, dune, wetland, stream, and urban restoration.&nbsp; Presentation topics include effects of fire on tallgrass plant species, restoration in mined areas, molecular diversity of Indiana morels, student-led restoration training, and more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Choice of one of SIX field trip: 1)<\/strong> <em>Tour of Efroymson Restoration at Kankakee Sands<\/em> ;<strong>2) <\/strong><em>Succession Trail in the Indiana Dunes National Park West Beach<\/em>; <strong>3)<\/strong><em> Fisher Oak Savanna Nature Preserve<\/em>; <strong>4)<\/strong> <em>Restoration of Cowles Bog in Indiana Dunes National Park<\/em>; <strong>5)<\/strong> <em>Southern Lake Michigan Dune and Swale Restorations<\/em>;
