{"id":34,"date":"2022-01-28T09:50:21","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T14:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chapter.ser.org\/easterncanada\/?page_id=34"},"modified":"2023-11-08T21:17:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T02:17:13","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chapter.ser.org\/easterncanada\/about\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Preliminary discussions on the need for the creation of SER-EC began during the <em>Peatlands and Wetlands Symposium in Atlantic Canada<\/em> held in June 2017 in New Brunswick (Eastern Canada). An Initial F-to-F meeting was planned during the <em>Reclaim, Restore, Rewild (RE<sup>3<\/sup>) 2020 International Conference<\/em> in Qu\u00e9bec City, which was later cancelled due to COVID 19. An interim organizing committee of three founding members (Line Rochefort, Jeremy Lundholm, and Luc B\u00e9langer) then proceeded by sending an email to more than 150 restoration professionals. They obtained a strong support from the existing SER members in Eastern Canada, as well as nearby SER Western Canada, New England, Ontario, Mid-Atlantic Chapters. The recognition of SER-EC as a new SER Chapter and as a non-profit organization in Canada occurred in fall 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Des discussions pr\u00e9liminaires sur la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de la cr\u00e9ation de la SER-EC ont d\u00e9but\u00e9 lors du Symposium sur les tourbi\u00e8res et les terres humides du Canada atlantique qui s&#8217;est tenu en juin 2017 au Nouveau-Brunswick (Est du Canada). Une premi\u00e8re r\u00e9union en personne \u00e9tait pr\u00e9vue lors de la conf\u00e9rence internationale Reclaim, Restore, Rewild (RE3) 2020 \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec, qui a f\u00fbt ensuite annul\u00e9e en raison de la COVID 19. Un comit\u00e9 organisateur int\u00e9rimaire compos\u00e9 de trois membres fondateurs (Line Rochefort, Jeremy Lundholm et Luc B\u00e9langer) a ensuite fait parvenir un courriel \u00e0 plus de 150 professionnels de la restauration. Ils ont obtenu un solide soutien des membres SER r\u00e9sidant dans l&#8217;Est du Canada, ainsi que des chapitres SER de l&#8217;Ouest du Canada, de la Nouvelle-Angleterre, de l&#8217;Ontario et du centre de l&#8217;Atlantique.
