2017 Annual meeting and Symposium


The 2017 Southeastern Chapter Meeting for Society for Ecological Restoration was held at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The theme of the 2017 conference was “NEXT GENERATION RESTORATION: Emerging Practice and Policy” – opportunities to present and to learn about the evolving methods and motivations that are shaping the landscape in which ecological restoration will be viewed and conducted in southeastern North America.

 

2016 Annual meeting and Symposium


The 2016 Southeastern Chapter Meeting for Society for Ecological Restoration was held at the University of Florida/IFAS conference center, Quincy, Florida. The theme of the 2016 conference was “Headwaters to High tide: Expanding Opportunities for Restoration.”

 

2015 Annual meeting and Symposium


The 2015 Southeastern Chapter Meeting for Society for Ecological Restoration was held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. The theme of the 2015 conference was “Mussels and Mines: Restoring Disturbed Ecosystems of the Southeast.”

 

2013 Annual meeting and Symposium


The 2013 Southeastern Chapter Meeting for Society for Ecological Restoration was held at Gulf Hills Hotel March 12-14 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The theme of the 2013 conference was “Human Dimensions of Ecological Restoration” and explored how people and the environment interact together.

 

2011 Annual Meeting and Symposium


SER Southeast and UF/IFAS held an annual symposium entitled New Trajectories and References for Ecological Recovery on October 17, 2011. The symposium explored current practice and research regarding the degradation and restoration of the southeastern region. The conference included invited talks and contributed papers about restoration issues in the Southeast, and field trips to selected sites in the area.

 

2010 Annual Meeting and Symposium


SER Southeast and the Southeast Exotic Pest Plant Council held an annual symposium entitled Disturbance and Change, Invasive Plants and Paths to Recovery May 11 – 13, 2010 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The symposium explored forest restoration, invasive species outreach, cogongrass research and grassland restoration. Field trips included hikes to some of Tennessee’s most celebrated natural areas, a behind the scenes tour of the Tennessee Aquarium and a cogongrass identification workshop.

 

2009 Annual Meeting and Symposium


SER Southeast (known as SER Coastal Plain Chapter at the time) held an annual symposium entitled Restoration in the Southeast with a Focus on Military Lands at the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University in Alabama on March 24 – 26, 2009.  Participants learned of current project and research updates from the Southeastern U.S. during two days of presentations, an evening poster session, and field trips.

 

2008 Annual Meeting and Symposium


SER Southeast (known as SER Coastal Plain Chapter at the time) and The Clemson University Restoration Institute (CURI) held an annual Symposium entitled Legacy Landscapes: Ecological Restoration in Post Industrial Settings on March 18 – 20, 2008 at the Madren Conference Center at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Participants learned of current project and research updates from the Southeastern US during three days of presentations and an evening poster session, field trips and workshops.
